A.

Using the window above to compose your Greek sentences, translate the following sentences into Greek.

1. He opens heaven. [“He” is implied by using a 3rd person singular verb.  “Heaven” is the direct object, and therefore should be in the accusative case.] 
   
   
2. We shall teach words of God. [“We” is implied by using a 1st person plural verb. “Words” is the direct object and therefore should be in the accusative case. “…of God” can be represented by using the word for “God” in the genitive case.] 
   
   
3. You (sing.) say words to men. [Use the dative case for “…to men”.] 
   
   
4. You (pl.) will send a child. 
   
   
5. A law of God leads men. 
   
   
6. He sees children of men.
   
   
7. She is writing words.

B. Remember that neuter nouns of the 2nd declension have nominative and accusative forms that are identical. Translate the following into English:

1. ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἔχει τέκνα. τὰ τέκνα τοῦ ἀνθρώπου βλέπουσιν ἀγγέλους.
   
2. ὁ κύριος ἔχει ἱερον. τὸ ἱερὸν τοῦ κυρίου ἐστὶν ἔργον τοῦ κυρίου. 

C. The verb “to be” (am, are, is, etc.) may be explicitly expressed, or it may be implicit though unexpressed. In either circumstance, the case of a predicate noun is nominative, just as pronouns following linking verbs in English are in the nominative case. Translate the following five sentences into English:

1. οἱ λόγοι τοῦ κυρίου εἰσὶν νόμοι.
2. οἱ οὐρανοὶ ἔργα τοῦ κυρίου.
3. οἱ οὐρανοὶ εἰσιν ἔργα τοῦ κυρίου.
4. οἱ ἀπόστολοι τοῦ κυρίου διδάσκαλοι.
5. οἱ ἀπόστολοι τοῦ κυρίου εἰσὶν διδάσκαλοι.

D. Translate the following into English.

1. οἱ ἄνθρωποι πιστεύουσι τὸν λόγον τοῦ κυρίου καὶ βλέπουσι τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ κυρίου.
2. οἱ ἄνθρωποι γράφουσιν τοὺς λόγους τῶν ἀποστόλων καὶ πέμπουσι τοὺς λόγους τέκνοις.
3. οἱ ἄνθρωποι βλέψουσι τὸν κύριον καὶ ἀκούσουσιν τοὺς λόγους τοῦ κυρίου.
4. οἱ ἀπόστολοι κηρύσσουσι τὸν λόγον καὶ βαπτίσουσιν ἀνθρώπους.
